People are looking at prompting the wrong way.

I've seen a lot of white papers titled "The top 100 prompts for..." or "20 prompts you need to know".

And I'm even guilty of helping create a white paper like this over a year ago.

But trying to memorize 50 prompts is a waste of time.

And most of the time, I lose the download after breezing through it once.

Learning HOW to write an effective prompt is the key.

And by following the 5 best practices below and using the prompt framework I am about to share.

Prompting is about to get a lot easier.

Keep in mind - these are tailored towards Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.

Sales Prompting Best Practices

1. Be Specific - Providing more context and details will lead to better quality responses (outputs).

2. Assign a Role - Ask it to ACT AS your customer, prospect, ideal client profile, etc. (and be as specific as possible) and then ask away.

Asking ChatGPT to "ACT AS" a specific role will improve the response!

3. Have a Conversation - The responses will improve as you redefine what you're looking for throughout the conversation.

4. Break It Down - If you have a long prompt or complex input, consider breaking it into pieces or simplifying it. Shorter outputs are also easier to adjust and refine.

5. Supplement AI with HI - Use your Human Intelligence to supplement Artificial Intelligence.

Follow these 5 simple techniques to make your prompting game that much stronger.

Now you might be wondering, what is a prompt framework?  And even if you aren't, I'm about to tell you.

A prompt framework is a prompt that you can use over and over again by just slightly adjusting a portion of the prompt.

I have one prompt framework that I use in my sales process time and time again.

My Favorite Sales Prompt Framework

I sell [product/service] to [target industry] companies [provide context].

These are the outcomes we provide:
1) [Outcome 1
2) [Outcome 2]
3) [Outcome 3]
4) [Outcome 4]

[Here you can ask any question or request any information]

You can fill out the first sentence  and the outcomes by replacing the bolded sections and keep that pretty similar each time.  Then you can adjust the last sentence to ask or request whatever it is you'd like.

For example:

I sell sales training, AI training, and sales technology to B2B sales teams and companies who are typically growth oriented and focused on becoming more efficient and effective.

These are the outcomes we provide:
1) Help reps save time and become more efficient
2) Help sales reps close better deals with a shorter sales cycle
3) Help sales leaders get full visibility into accounts and opportunities
4) Help combine a proven sales methodology and cutting-edge sales technology

Please act as a sales expert and help me create 3 different ideal client profiles based on this information above.

You can copy and paste that and make it your own (I have it saved in a Apple Note for quick access).

If you follow the best practices I mentioned and create your own prompt framework that fits your world - sales, marketing, entrepreneurship, etc. - I guarantee prompting will get a lot easier.

Good Selling!
