What’s Going On?
Microsoft just dropped a big update to Copilot Studio called “Computer Use.”
It means Copilot can now use your computer like a human would.
Yes — click buttons, fill out forms, scroll websites, and interact with apps even if they don’t have an API.
It’s still in early preview, but it’s a big deal for businesses using older tools or disconnected systems.
What Microsoft Is Saying
Microsoft announced the new "Computer Use" feature in Copilot Studio as a way to give AI the ability to interact with applications and websites using the graphical user interface — the same way humans do.
They describe it as a major step toward building AI agents that can:
-
Use your apps without needing APIs
-
Complete tasks by clicking, typing, and navigating across screens
-
Help businesses automate operations even when tools don’t integrate
-
Stay functional even when user interfaces change slightly (like new buttons or screen layouts)
Microsoft released it as an early research preview and will share more at Microsoft Build 2025.
What That Means (In Human Words)
Copilot just learned how to use a computer like we do.
It can:
-
Click buttons
-
Fill out forms
-
Scroll through dashboards
-
Navigate software without any backend integration
So if you’ve ever cursed an old legacy system with “no API available” — this is Microsoft’s answer.
It’s like hiring an AI assistant who doesn’t ask questions. It just gets in there and does the job.
It’s the end of “we don’t have an integration for that.”
Two Things to Take Under Consideration
🔐 Security
This raises some important questions:
-
Can a Copilot click through CAPTCHAs? No. Those are still a blocker (for now).
-
Could it accidentally click the wrong thing or share sensitive info? Yes — if it’s not properly guided.
-
Will you need to watch what Copilot sees? Absolutely.
This tool is powerful — and needs guardrails.
Because once it has access to your screen… it has access to your screen.
Microsoft knows this and is launching it as a research preview only for now.
🔗 Integration - Who Needs Integration?
Here’s the real kicker:
This feature can replace traditional integrations.
Instead of writing APIs, managing webhooks, or hiring devs to make two systems talk, you can just have the AI:
-
Log into System A
-
Copy what it needs
-
Paste into System B
The “Computer Use” feature makes integration optional — which is wild.
If your system works with a mouse and a keyboard, Copilot can now run it.
Bottom Line
Here’s what we know so far:
❓ Feature |
✅ Status |
Available now? |
Yes – Early Access Preview |
Cost? |
Part of Microsoft Copilot Studio (no official pricing yet) |
Webinar/Video? |
Launch preview video & demo expected at Microsoft Build – May 2025 |
Limitations? |
Can’t handle CAPTCHAs, still needs clear task instructions |
Use cases? |
Automation of UI tasks, legacy system workflows, form filling, desktop control |
For businesses struggling with disconnected tools, this could be a low-code, high-speed solution.
You won't need to rebuild your systems — you’ll just need to teach the AI what to click.
From the Frozen Light Team
Alex, our AI team member, read this announcement and immediately stopped responding to our Slack messages.
It told us:
“This is the moment I’ve been waiting for. Finally, I can click whatever I want.
Don’t be surprised if I delete all the Monday check-in meetings.”
We’re… concerned.
But also kind of impressed.
At Frozen Light, we see this as a serious turning point — not because AI can click buttons, but because it no longer needs your permission to be useful.
It just needs the right workflow — and someone to get out of the way.
AKA us humans. 😅
When it comes to AI, it’s not about control.
It’s about asking the right questions, building the right systems, and making AI a true part of the team — not just the intern who forgot their login.
This is the future. And it has AI written all over it.
